Community

Ruth is married to Paul and has lived in Harrogate since 2012 with her children Bethany and Samuel. Originally from Dudley in the West Midlands, Ruth spent 25 years in local government management before moving with her family to South Wales in 2009 to work full time in Christian ministry with Teen Challenge, a charity that helps people out of addiction. The family moved to Harrogate to help set up a partner project helping people back into work following rehabilitation.

Ruth is passionate about sharing the gospel and serving the community showing God’s love in a practical way; she has a heart for evangelism and for helping and supporting the poor and marginalised in society. In 2014 she took over as CAP Debt Centre Manager at Mowbray Community Church, supporting families to get out of debt. Since then the work has expanded—services added include a CAP Life Skills Team and a CAP Job Club.

In 2017 Ruth also became CAP Area Manager for Yorkshire, supporting frontline workers and churches in delivering CAP services to their communities. Ruth is a member of the Ministry and Operations Team with responsibility for supporting and representing community ministries that go on at the church.

In her spare time she enjoys walking, reading, travel, creative writing and catching up with friends.
