What: MCC partners with the local community to provide a fun, safe and life-enhancing women’s drop in centre, run by women for women.

Alpha

   

What: Alpha is a relaxed and informal course over 10 weeks with time for food, discussion and debate about the big issues in life. It is for anyone who is curious about the Christian faith, who has difficulties with the Christian faith or who just wants to be challenged about what life is all about.

When: The next course is scheduled to start on the 16th April running for 6 weeks to the 21st May.

CAP Debt Counselling

 

What: MCC is a local centre for Christians Against Poverty.

Why: CAP aims to show God’s love in action by providing sustainable poverty relief through debt counselling, advice and practical help.

When: The Work CAP does through MCC is ongoing but the local team do hold a prayer meeting every 2nd Sunday of the month at 5:45pm.

Where: The Prayer Room.

Signed services for Deaf People

 

 

 

 

What: Signed services for Deaf People at MCC

Why: MCC believes in strengthening and encouraging the participation of Deaf people in the life and witness of the church community.

When: Every 2nd Sunday of the month. Lunch at 1:00pm followed by a church service from 2:00pm-3:00pm Also Sunday evening services are almost always signed.

Emmaus House (Pilgrim Friend Society)

 

What: In years past MCC helped set up Emmaus House in Harrogate.

Why: It provides Christian care for the elderly who require support in day to day living.

Foodbank

 

What: An interchurch project, MCC is the venue for an emergency foodbank in tandem with Trussell Trust.

Why: 13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK.
Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Trussell Trust foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK.

When: The Foodbank is held at Mowbray Community Church on Tuesdays and Fridays 10.30am-12.30pm.
Clients need to receive a voucher from Professional Agencies in order to receive food.

Horizon Life Training

 

What: MCC is linked with the Christian charity of Horizon Life Training located in Killinghall.

Why: HLT exists to enable people, who have already gained freedom from their addictions, to achieve valuable work experience and qualifications so they can be restored back into the community with employable skills.

The Warehouse

 

What: We redistribute donated houshold items and clothing to those in serious need locally and in Eastern Europe.  Several shipments a year are sent to refuges and orphanages in Hungary.

Why: The recipients are generally the homeless, those escaping domestic abuse or are in a housing crisis.

How: We accept donations of future, clothing, shoes, household items, sporting gear, medical items, toys and scrap metal.  Anything other than knick-knacks can be used or recycled to help someone.

How can you help?...

Donate items to our warehouse.  We hold an open day on the last Saturday of each month from 10am-4pm.  If it is too big call us and we will gladly collect it.  You could also volunteer to help sort goods at the warehouse, all help is greatly appreciated.

Where: The Warehouse is located on Burley Bank Road, near the Army Foundation College, Harrogate.
